GADSDEN – The Cherokee County Warriors split a baseball doubleheader at Gadsden City on Saturday. They defeated the host Titans 5-2, then fell to Pell City 13-3.
Against Gadsden City, Daegan Scott tossed a two-hitter. He allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five.
At the plate, Connor Wilson went 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk. Jackson Aultman added a hit, a run and a RBI. Tristan Whitefield had a hit and walked twice. Malachi Horton and Cody Adderhold both had a hit and a run. Haden Wheeler walked and scored a run. Walker Pruett also scored a run. Isaiah Wood and Cooper Rodgers both drove in a run.
In the loss to Pelly City, Brian Green went 2-for-3 with a run. He also suffered the loss after working five innings. He gave up six earned runs on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
Wheeler doubled for the Warriors (9-8). Horton had a hit and two RBIs. Pruett produced a hit and a run. Wilson walked and had a hit. Wood walked twice and Whitefield walked once. El Martin scored a run.
Cherokee County is scheduled to play at Glencoe on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
