JACKSONVILLE – Kayley Kirk’s first softball game back from knee surgery was certainly a memorable one. She went 4-for-4 with three doubles, a run and five RBIs to lead the Spring Garden Lady Panthers to a 16-0 win in five innings over Gaston.
The game was played at Jacksonville State University’s softball field.
Avery Steward also had a perfect performance at the plate for the Lady Panthers (3-1). She was 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Maggie Jarrett went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Abbie Woods was 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs and two RBIs. Abbey Steward went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Neely Welsh doubled, walked, scored two runs and drove in another. Ace Austin collected a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. Kylie-Grace Wood finished with a hit and a walk.
Abbey Steward picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Panthers. She tossed three innings of no-hit ball with nine strikeouts. Avery Steward relieved her older sister and finished the final 1 2/3 innings, giving up three hits and a walk with a pair of strikeouts.
Spring Garden plays in the Cherokee Invitational on Friday afternoon against Falkville at 4:30 p.m.
