Shortly before 12:00 noon Tuesday several area fire departments were dispatched to a location on County Road 959 – off County Road 407 at Tate’s Chapel – to a report of a chimney fire.
According to Centre Fire Chief Jeremy Lee, the homeowner used a garden hose to extinguish the fire prior to the fire department arriving. Firefighters ensured that the fire was completely out, cleaned the chimney and use a thermal imaging camera to make sure the fire had not spread.
Floyd EMS Medics also responded as a precautionary measure.
