Cedar Bluff baseball sweeps area doubleheader with Coosa Christian

CEDAR BLUFF – The Cedar Bluff Tigers swept a Class 1A, Area 12 baseball doubleheader against Coosa Christian on Thursday.

In game one, Jacob Burleson went 2-for-2 at the plate with a home run, a double, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. He also picked up the win on the mound after tossing 6 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits with three walks in the Tigers’ 8-2 victory.

In the nightcap, Corey Teague tossed a one-hitter in six innings. He gave up two earned runs with four walks and 11 strikeouts in Cedar Bluff’s 12-2 win in six innings.

Teague also had a hit, a walk, a run and three RBIs in the first game. Jared Dasher delivered a hit, a walk and a pair of runs. Preston Burt finished with game one with a hit, a walk and a RBI.

JD Justus led the Conquerors at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a RBI. Thomas Skaggs doubled and drove in a run. He also suffered the loss after working four innings. Skaggs gave up three earned runs on four hits with eight walks and eight strikeouts.

Bucky Leek collected three hits, a run and a RBI in the second game. Eli McFry delivered two doubles, two runs and a RBI. Hagen Stallings also had a pair of hits, including a double, with two runs. Dasher contributed two hits, two runs and a RBI. Burleson managed two hits, a run and two RBIs. Kaden Pack posted a hit and two RBIs. Isaac Bishop had a hit and scored a run. Teague walked, scored a run and drove in another.

Clete O’Bryant had the lone hit for the Conquerors. Brady Nelson drew a pair of walks and scored a run. He also suffered the loss after giving up five earned runs on nine hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Carter Moore also scored a run.

Cedar Bluff travels to Sand Rock on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
