One Fatally Injured in Thursday Morning Collision in Rome

One person was killed in a head-on collision on North Avenue near the Floyd County Public Animal Welfare Services building Thursday morning.

According to the Rome Police report, a northbound Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 48 year old Michelle Cantu from Rome collided with an eastbound Ford Explorer, driven by 28 year old Brittany Allen, also of Rome.  A passenger in the in Jetta identified as Hector Guzman-Guzman, age 37 of Rome was fatally injured; Cantu and Allen were transported to Floyd Medical Center for the treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

That wreck, which occurred just before 10:00am, remains under investigation by the Rome PD.
