A truck was stolen from the parking lot at the Spring Garden General Store yesterday evening while the owner of the vehicle was inside the store.According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, one of two suspects was quickly identified as, Jerry D. Downey, 22 of Piedmont. Deputy Moore and Cpl. Bailey located Downey and recovered the stolen truck before midnight.
They arrested Downey and transported him to the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of receiving stolen property. The second suspect has been identified and will face charges of first degree theft of property when he is located.
