Gaylesville Man Charged With 2nd Degree Assault Following Shooting Incident

A Gaylesville man was taken into custody Sunday evening by Sheriff’s Office investigators – following a shooting incident in Jamestown.

Chief Deputy Josh Summerford informed WEIS Radio News that deputies had responded to a residence on County Road 15 after receiving a 9-1-1 call that a minor had been shot.

63 year old Alvin Glen Wright was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on the charge of second degree assault.  According to a News Release from the Sheriff’s Office – Wright, who is a neighbor, shot into a surrounding patch of woods.

Floyd EMS transported that victim – a 13 year old female – to a local hospital for treatment; no additional information regarding her condition has been made available.

Wright is currently being held without Bond.
