SAND ROCK – Class 2A, No. 4 Sand Rock sank 14 3-pointers Wednesday night in a 93-35 victory over Gaston in the Class 2A, Area 12 boys basketball tournament.
Garyn Sharpe led the Wildcats (21-5) with 24 points, including four treys. He also pulled down seven rebounds.
Jacob St. Clair connected on six treys and scored 20 points. Cade Ballenger contributed 10 points and 10 assists. Xander Bradley managed nine points and eight blocked shots. Logan Wood finished with nine points and seven boards.
Kendall Blackwell topped Gaston’s scorers with 15 points.
Sand Rock will now host ninth-ranked Spring Garden for the area title on Saturday at 6 p.m.
