Etowah’s Spears too much for Warriors in season-ending loss

ATTALLA – Etowah’s Dee Spears was too much for the Cherokee County Warriors to handle Wednesday night. He scored a game-high 30 points, including six 3-pointers, in a 75-52 decision in the Class 4A, Area 10 boys basketball tournament.

Nas Diamond led the Warriors (10-16) with 13 points. Slade Alexander added 12 points. Connor Elrod came away with nine points. Cade Hopper had eight points and Jack Amos finished with five points.

Trent Davis and Steven Jones both netted 10 points apiece for the Blue Devils. Brevan Knight and Quintavious Wright both finished with eight points.

The Warriors trailed 20-17 at the end of the first quarter and 37-30 at halftime. Etowah went on a 26-11 run in the third quarter to take a 63-41 lead.
