Cherokee County Placed under Tornado Warning after Midnight; No Injuries Reported Locally

Cherokee County experienced some rough weather overnight – and at one point, a Tornado Warning was issued for the extreme southeastern portion of Cherokee County, the extreme northeastern part of Calhoun County and the corner of Cleburne County, where the systems converged.

A Tornado Watch had been put into place earlier, with a Warning being issued shortly after midnight for Spring Garden, Piedmont, and the surrounding areas.  That Warning was lifted at approximately 12:30.

We’ve had no reports of any serious damage occurring or of anyone being injured locally as a result of the stormfront, which brought heavy rainfall and intense lightning to the area.

Unfortunately it was a different story in Jefferson County where the same system left a total of 27 people hurt, with one fatality – that, as it made its way into St. Clair County.
