The Cherokee County Lady Warriors (15-4) moved into the Class 4A girls basketball poll this week after flirting with being ranked much of the season. The Lady Warriors come in at No. 10 and are gearing up to face Sand Rock (12-9) in the Cherokee County tournament on Friday at 7 p.m.

Speaking of the Lady Wildcats, they dropped from the Class 2A rankings this week after holding the No. 9 spot last week. Staying in Class 2A girls, the Spring Garden Lady Panthers (20-2) hold steady at No. 2. The Lady Panthers await the winner of Thursday’s Cedar Bluff-Gaylesville game in the Cherokee County Tournament on Friday at 4 p.m.

One other area girls team continued to receive consideration for the poll: Class 3A Collinsville (17-4).

In the boys rankings, Class 3A Piedmont (7-5) and Class 2A Sand Rock (15-4) both come in at No. 7 this week. The Bulldogs are up two spots from last week, while the Wildcats held firm. Sand Rock takes on the winner of Thursday’s Cedar Bluff-Gaylesville game on Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the Cherokee County Tournament.

Spring Garden (14-6) dropped a spot this week to No. 10. The Panthers take on Cherokee County on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the Cherokee County Tournament.
