Business Owners Beware – Domain Name Scam

Business owners beware – be on the lookout for a con game involving website domain fees.

WEIS Radio recently received a letter disguised to look like an invoice for our domain name complete with details on where to send the money and how much to pay (in our case $228)

The letter appears to come from something called Domain Listings – purportedly out of Las Vegas, Nevada.  Make no mistake, this is a SCAM.

First and foremost, that’s NOT where we have our domain name listed through.  And, a quick Google search turned up numerous complaints and warnings against the same individuals, with some sites even posting copies of the letter they received, which is exactly what we’ve done on our news site at weisradio.com.

Apparently, the scammers are playing a numbers game – hoping that if they simply mail out enough of these phony “invoices” – someone will “rubber stamp” the one they received, and cut a check.
