Alabama added more than 5,000 new COVID-19 cases from Wednesday into Thursday

The Alabama Department of Public Health data released Thursday morning shows the state has had 389,230 coronavirus cases since last March, with 5,046 added overnight.  The state added 86 deaths – some dating back several months – to bring that total to 5,080.

The Alabama Department of Public Health stresses that case counts – and number of deaths – reported this week could be inflated due to delays in reporting.

Meanwhile, in Cherokee County, according to the ADPH, we’ve seen a total of 1,496 cases of COVID-19 since last March 13th – 996 confirmed, 500 listed as probable; countywide we’ve had a total of 25 deaths – with 21 of those confirmed as being COVID-related and 4 listed as probable.
