One Hurt in Fireworks Accident News Year’s Eve in McCords Community

Emergency Crews from McCord’s Fire Department and Floyd EMS were dispatched to an address on County Road 101 in the McCord’s Crossroads community to a report of a fireworks accident in which a 59 year old male had reportedly sustained injuries just after 8:30pm New Year’s Eve.

According to Fire Chief Rich Lindsey, crews quickly arrived on the scene to find a patient who had been severely injured when a firework apparently exploded in or near his hand.

Crews requested a medical helicopter; but they declined the flight due to weather conditions. The patient was treated on the scene by McCord’s first responders and Floyd EMS and then transported by ground to Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga. for further treatment.
