A Cherokee County man was arrested on drug charges last week in northwest Georgia after law enforcement officials stopped to check on his vehicle which was parked by the roadside
On Friday, December 18th, Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were patrolling along Highway 48 when they came across a parked Chevrolet Truck with no tag. According to the report, when deputies approached the vehicle a white male suddenly rose up in the driver’s seat – and started yelling. As deputies waited on the driver to produce an ID, they noticed a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the truck.
The driver produced an Alabama license and was identified as Wesley Guffey of Gaylesville,
After obtaining consent to conduct a “pat down” search, the deputies noticed a clear, plastic container with a green, leafy substance suspected to be marijuana along with a white bottle that contained two separately wrapped, blue pills. After Guffey was detained at the scene another package, this one containing a white, crystal like substance was found – and it field tested positive for Methamphetamine. Another package of suspected Methamphetamine was found on the passenger side.
At this point Guffey was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail.
According to the report, Guffey was charged with four counts of possession/manufacturing, of certain controlled substances and marijuana, one misdemeanor count of Marijuana (less than one ounce) and one count of Drugs Not In Original Container.
