SPRING GARDEN – Sarah Kate McKay connected on four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points in leading the Spring Garden Lady Panthers to a 51-44 victory over visiting Plainview on Tuesday.
Neely Welsh added a pair of treys as part of a 13-point effort. Lexie Adkison added 11 points and Ace Austin tossed in eight points, including two 3-pointers.
Halle Brown topped Plainview with 14 points, including three treys. Payton Blevins contributed 12 points, including four 3-pointers. Kami Sanders and Saydi Jackson finished with seven and six points respectively.
The game was tight throughout. Spring Garden led 19-13 at the end of the first quarter and held a 29-24 advantage at halftime. The Lady Panthers took a 42-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the boys game, Dylan Hayman and Luke Smith both contributed 12 points in the Bears’ 60-35 victory. Cole Millican and Ty Griggs both sank three treys and finished with 11 and nine points respectively.
Weston Kirk led Spring Garden with 14 points. Cooper Austin added seven points and Luke Welsh finished with six points.
Plainview led at each of the quarter breaks. The Bears held an 11-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter and built a 20-9 edge at halftime. A 22-16 run in the third provided Plainview a 42-25 lead at the end of three quarters.
Spring Garden hosts Westbrook Christian on Thursday.
