CENTRE – Slade Alexander and Connor Elrod both scored 23 points in leading the Cherokee County Warriors to a 62-41 basketball victory over Coosa, Ga. on Tuesday.

Nine of Elrod’s points came off a 3-pointers. Nas Diamond also had nine points.

Coosa led 13-7 at the end of the first quarter, but the Warriors (2-3) surged ahead 27-20 at halftime. Cherokee County went on a 22-6 third-quarter run to take a 49-26 advantage.

In the girls game, Mary Hayes Johnson netted 11 points and Carson Coley collected 10 points in the Lady Warriors’ 67-16 victory.

Sidney Johnson and Ella Garmany both finished with eight points for the Lady Warriors (4-0).

Cherokee County hosts Alexandria on Friday.
