Two Ft Payne Women Fatally Injured in Louisiana Auto Accident

Two women from DeKalb County were killed November 20th in a crash in Louisiana.  The Ouachita Citizen reports that Louisiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Louisiana 133 and Louisiana 15 at around 3:00pm that Friday.

According to troopers a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Francisco Tomas-Jose, age 21 of Ft Payne was traveling northbound on Louisiana 133, and for reasons still under investigation failed to stop at the flashing red traffic signal at the intersection of 133 and 15 – causing the Sonata to travel into the path of an eastbound 2005 Dodge Dakota.

Tomas-Jose – who was wearing his seatbelt – sustained only minor injuries – however, two passengers, Maria Jose-Pedro, age 36, and Eulalia Tomas-Andres, 18, both also of Ft Payne –  died in the crash.  They were not wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the Dodge Dakota, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries.

That wreck remains under investigation.
