ALEXANDRIA – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers opened their 2020-21 basketball season on Saturday at the Champions Academy Thanksgiving Tournament in Alexandria. They dropped a heartbreaking 55-54 decision against Class 6A Oxford.
The loss broke a 25-game winning streak by the Lady Panthers, dating back to last season.
Lexie Adkison led Spring Garden (0-1) with 18 points. Ace Austin added 13 points. Kayley Kirk collected nine points before suffering a knee injury.

Abbey Steward finished with seven points.
Justice Woods topped the Lady Yellow Jacket scorers with 16 points. Kaleah Taylor tallied 14 points. Lisa Montgomery added 11 points and La’Mya McGrue finished with five points.
Oxford held a 13-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Panthers forged ahead 26-25 at halftime and held a 41-36 edge after three quarters.
