OAKVILLE – Sand Rock senior Maggie Hester finished 12th with a time of 22:16.13, leading the Lady Wildcats to a sixth-place finish at the Class 1A-2A Girls State Cross Country Meet at Oakville’s Indian Mounds Park on Saturday.
Other Lady Wildcats running in the meet included freshman Christy Alred (61st; 24:38.44), sophomore Ensley Callantine (66th; 25:00.75), senior Alisha Mulligan (72nd; 25:23.71), junior Samantha Carr (73rd; 25:25.19), junior Harlie Williams (89th; 26:38.24), sophomore Kiara Graham (100th; 27:47.41), junior Brooke Wright (112th; 30:13.11) and sophomore Kelly Bre Clanton (117th; 31:05.72).
Cedar Bluff senior Emma Bishop came in 50th with a time of 24:06.41.
Cold Springs won the 1A-2A girls meet overall team standings.
The Wildcat boys took 12th in the boys’ run, led by eighth grader Caleb Yoder’s 29th place with a time of 19:09.63.
Other Wildcat boys running in the meet included freshman Ben Bruce (52nd; 19:54.72), freshman Jack Watson (77th; 20:50.89), eighth grader Jed Cunningham (104th; 21:58.12), sophomore Austin Yoder (106th; 22:10.67), eighth grader Kayl Hill (112th; 22:21.42) and eighth grader Bryant Yoder (113th; 22:30.19).
Cedar Bluff sophomore Austin Richardson topped the county’s boy runners with a 22nd place finish with a time of 18:45.78.
Hatton finished first in the 1A-2A boys meet overall team standings.
In the Class 4A Girls State Meet, Cherokee County High School senior Sidney Johnson took 33rd with a time of 22:33.10.
