High Speed Chase Beginning in Ft Payne Ends at Alabama/Georgia Line Tuesday Morning

A high speed chase out of Ft Payne ended at the Georgia State Line on Tuesday morning.

According to DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden the pursuit began at around 9:00 after law law enforcement officials were notified regarding a vehicle possibly being connected with a burglary occurring at an area business.

Shortly thereafter a patrol deputy made contact with the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Instead of pulling over, the driver fled – leading several units through a number of towns at a high rate of speed; that route included the vehicle traveling up I-59, along Highway 117 to Highway 40 and eventually to Alabama Highway 75.

That chase finally came to an end at the Alabama/Georgia line – with Dade County, Georgia deputies providing assistance.

The suspect, identified as Ethan Miller of Lafayette, was taken into custody and transported to the Dade County Detention Center.
