Sand Rock sweeps its way back to Huntsville

SAND ROCK – The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats continued their late-season surge in Class 2A subregional action on Thursday. They swept visiting Athens Bible 25-13, 25-13, 25-11 to earn another trip to the North Regional in Huntsville.

“We are clicking and focused going into Huntsville,” Sand Rock coach Lisa Bates said. “I am looking forward to seeing how far we can go with this great group of girls. I feel we are playing well together and having fun.”

Lanie Henderson led the Lady Wildcats (29-10) with 13 kills and three blocks. Hannah Davis delivered 12 kills and two blocks. Caley Garrett posted 18 digs. Katelyn St. Clair added four kills. McKenna Ballenger contributed 18 assists. Makenzi Blackwell collected seven digs and four aces. Jadyn Foster had three kills. Jacey Stephens came away with eight assists and two aces. Haylee Stansell finished with three aces.

Sand Rock faces the winner of Friday’s Altamont-Ider subregional match on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
