City of Summerville moves forward with legal action against chemical manufacturer

The City of Summerville is moving forward with legal action against a company that is believed to be responsible for the chemicals that have been found in Raccoon Creek that have negatively impacted the city’s water supply.

City Attorney Albert Palmour told WZQZ News on Wednesday, “The City is going to engage lawyers, including myself, to file a lawsuit for nuisance, probably in Federal Court.

The lawsuit will be against an identified manufacturer of the chemicals found in Raccoon Creek.  We will use sampling to identify the manufacturer of the contaminants.”

The Summerville City Council voted to take the legal action during their regular monthly council meeting that was held on Monday of this week.
