Following a 20-15 loss to Ohatchee on Friday, the Piedmont Bulldogs dropped four spots to No. 5 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association football rankings. The latest poll was released late Tuesday evening.

This week’s poll marks the first time Piedmont (5-1) hasn’t been ranked at No. 1 in the Class 3A rankings all season. The Bulldogs travel to Pleasant Valley (2-4) on Friday.

Fyffe (6-0) moved into the top spot in the 3A rankings. The Red Devils received 22 of 23 first-place votes. Wellborn (6-0), Flomaton (6-0) and Ohatchee (5-1) round out the top four. Flomaton received a first-place vote.

In Class 2A, Spring Garden (5-1) maintained its No. 8 ranking. The Panthers host Westbrook Christian (6-0) on Friday.

One other area team continued to receive consideration for the poll: Class 4A Cherokee County (6-1). The Warriors host sixth-ranked Handley (4-0) on Thursday.
