Fort Payne Police Release Additional Information On 18 Wheeler Accident Occurring On Tuesday

Additional information has been released concerning the 18 wheeler accident occurring at Joe’s Truck Stop on Highway 35 in Fort Payne on Tuesday.

Fort Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum said the accident occurred at approximately 10:00 am on Tuesday when a 2014 International Tractor with a box trailer driven by 54 year old Rodney Chandler of Snellville, GA., went into the wall at the intersection of 5Th Street NE and Wallace Ave NE, also known as Joe’s Truck Stop.

Chandler stated he did stop at the break stop at the top of the mountain but lost his brakes on his trailer as he was coming down the mountain.  The truck and trailer sustained severe damage along with the rock wall belonging to James Donald Faulkner.

The road was closed for several hours while 24/7 Wrecker Service off loaded the trailer and removed the wreckage from the scene.

Mr. Chandler wasn’t injured and was able to climb out the vehicle on his own.
