PIEDMONT – Piedmont football coach Steve Smith confirmed Wednesday afternoon the Class 3A top-ranked Bulldogs will be off this week after Region 5 rival Weaver cancelled on Monday, due to the Bearcats bout with COVID-19.
Smith tried to find a replacement opponent for this week, but to no avail. This week’s scheduled contest with Weaver was to have been Piedmont’s homecoming.
Piedmont, now 4-0 after the Weaver forfeit, has now pushed its homecoming to next week – Sept. 25 – against Class 4A Jacksonville (3-1).
