Class 3A Piedmont (2-0) and Class 2A Spring Garden (3-0) both held their respective rankings in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association high school football poll, released late Tuesday evening.

Piedmont still comes in at No. 1 following last week’s 35-6 win over Saks. The Bulldogs, who are scheduled to travel to Glencoe this Friday, earned all 23 first-place votes this week, followed by second-ranked Fyffe (2-0). The Red Devils are coming off a 54-0 thrashing of Collinsville (3-1) and host Sylvania this Friday.

Sixth-ranked Spring Garden is also coming off a rout, a 62-0 victory over West End of Walnut Grove on Friday. The Panthers have this Friday off after Locust Fork forfeited on Sunday due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Spring Garden’s next contest is scheduled for Sept. 18 at home against Cleveland.

Dropping out of the rankings this week is Class 1A Cedar Bluff (0-2), which fell at Valley Head on Friday 20-14. The Tigers look to rebound this Friday when they host Sumiton Christian (1-1).
