Driver of Dump Truck Injured After Rollover Wreck in Leesburg Tuesday Morning

The driver of a dump truck hauling a load of dirt was air-lifted for treatment early Tuesday after losing control of the vehicle and crashing down a steep embankment in Leesburg.  The accident occurred on Highway 273 at around 7:50am.

The driver was transported from the scene by Floyd EMS to a landing zone, which had been set up at the FEMA Building in Leesburg; he was reportedly alert and speaking with medics.

Leesburg Fire and Police Units, Rescue Squad personnel and Troopers also responded

The cause of that wreck remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
