The Center for Disease Control is reportedly advising public health officials in every state to be ready to distribute the coronavirus vaccine as soon as late October or early November.
A report in the New York Times said the vaccine will first be offered to healthcare workers, and others in high-risk groups. Documents related to the vaccine were distributed to states last week, according to the report
The documents refer to a pair of unnamed vaccine candidates, each of which would require two doses a few weeks apart – with early vaccinations would go to healthcare professionals including long-term care employees, as well as those considered to be “essential” workers –and national security personnel.
By January 2021 significantly more COVID-19 vaccine should be available for distribution.
