Collinsville defense comes up big again in 24-6 win over Crossville

COLLINSVILLE – Turnovers and defense ruled the game, but the Collinsville Panthers were able to defeat Class 5A Crossville 24-6 in Thursday night football action.

“We made some mistakes, but we are 2-0,” first-year Collinsville head coach Daniel Garrett said. “It is good to get off to a good start. We tell our kids to do your job and eventually you will be fine.”

In the first half, Crossville (0-2) lost four fumbles and an interception. The interception was returned 30 yards by Jacob Jones for a touchdown. Collinsville scored two touchdowns on the first two fumble recoveries. Dalton Hughes recovered two of the four fumbles.

In the second half, Crossville and put together a 13-play drive and a 9-play drive. The second ended in the Lions only score of the night.

Collinsville added a final touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Keaton DeBoard led the Panthers in rushing with 53 yards and two touchdowns.

Crossville had 132 total yards and Collinsville just 105. The Panthers host Fyffe on Sept. 4.
