Firefighters with the Ellisville, Centre, and Spring Creek departments responded to a report of a structure fire just prior to 1:00am Wednesday on County Road 83 about four miles east of Centre. They arrived on the scene to find a hay barn filled with equipment fully involved in flames.
Leesburg and McCords Crossroads units were also called into action to provide assistance a short while later with all five departments battling the blaze until shortly before 5:00am.
Early reports indicate the barn was a total loss; fortunately, it appears no one was hurt, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
