Piedmont Jaycees Make Contributions

The Piedmont Jaycees were organized in 1952 by several business leaders to offer leadership training through community service projects.

The Piedmont Jaycees, sixty-eight (68) years later, are still in existence and continue work to help under-privileged children in the Piedmont area. Each year the Piedmont Jaycees man a TNT Fireworks Stand at the Centre Wal-Mart as their major fundraising project. With part of those proceeds, the Jaycees maintain their clubhouse on Parkie Pace Blvd. in Piedmont and provide Christmas for several underprivileged children each December. This organization has been assisting needed children since their inception in 1952.

On July 14, 2020, FAT DOGS SALOON hosted a night: “NO CHILD SHOULD HAVE TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL TO BORROW A PENCIL”.  Ms. Harley Bonds, a Jaycee member and an employee, talked the owners Brian and Kaye Farley into organizing a fundraiser so patrons attending could make donations for the Back to School project. The special music was provided by Jon Kinsey, Rodney McCain, and Josh Bearden. Jon Kinsey donated a metal sign, Brian Fortenberry also donated a sign, and Holly Bonds with Mint Juley Designs donated several gift certificates for the event.

This special event raised four hundred dollars ($400.00) that was donated to the Piedmont Jaycees.  The Jaycees then donated $200 each to Piedmont Elementary School and Spring Garden Elementary School.

The Piedmont Jaycees truly appreciate the fundraiser event sponsored by Fat Dogs Saloon, on behalf of the children and their families, who otherwise may not be able to purchase school supplies this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
