Gadsden Women Arrested Following Police Pursuit Through Cherokee County

A Gadsden woman was taken into custody following a pursuit with police that began after Polk County, Georgia authorities issued a ‘Be on the lookout’ for a vehicle that had fled from them.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Matt Walker located the vehicle on Highway 411 and initiated a traffic stop near Centre, the driver fled and the pursuit ensued. Spike strips were deployed by Leesburg Police but were unsuccessful. 

The pursuit continued south on Highway 411 until Gadsden Police were able to stop the vehicle with spike strips. 

51 year old Ruth Ann Barber was taken into custody on charges of DUI and Attempting to Elude, she is being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $3,000 bond.

Cedar Bluff Police, Centre Police, Leesburg Police, Gadsden Police and the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit.
