In Person Learning At The New Centre Elementary School Will Be Delayed

Principal Wes Neyman tells WEIS Radio that he had hoped to occupy the new building beginning June 1, 2020. As the summer has progressed, the reality has now set in that the facility will not be open in time for the start of school for students on August 19, 2020.

For those reasons Neyman said that they are planning to begin classes remotely for K-4th Grade students on August 19, 2020 with the goal of having the first in-person school day on Monday August 31, 2020.

The crew of First Team Construction has done all within their power to have them in the school on time. The covid-19 pandemic has not been kind to their company nor the project. Mr. Neyman said that he is very appreciative of their hard work and dedication during the process.

Mr Neyman said that this is certainly not at all how they wanted to begin the year, but they plan to make the best of it under the circumstances. The faculty and staff of CES will work diligently to make sure there is a speedy move once everything is cleared for occupancy by the state inspector.

There are tentative plans to have a come and go “Meet Your Teacher” event on Thursday August 27, 2020 from 3pm-7pm and Friday August 28, 2020 from 9am-12pm. As per the governor’s order, the school is asking that all visitors wear masks when they enter the building. Your child’s teacher will be available to answer any questions you may have or assist you in preparing your child for the start of school.

Neyman said that they will also try to send out regular reminders of the date changes for the school and any updates they may have.
