According to Seth Burkett, Public Information for the North Division of the Alabama Department of Transportation, the temporary diversion of traffic on Alabama Highway 68 has been delayed, and the Alabama Department of Transportation will announce later when the shift will take place.
A contractor for ALDOT had planned to shift Alabama 68 traffic to a temporary diversion at the old Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia Railroad north of Leesburg in Cherokee County last Thursday afternoon to allow for demolition of a bridge constructed in 1941.
