A collision Tuesday afternoon on Highway 411 in Etowah County – involving an 18-wheeler and a passenger car – claimed the life of a Gadsden man. 

The Gadsden Times reports, according to Etowah County Coroner London Pearce – 39 year old Jonathan Adam Bishop was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was listed as the lone occupant of the Chevrolet Malibu which collided with the big rig at around 4:00pm near Hooks Lake Road.  The truck driver was treated at an nearby hospital, but did not appear to have suffered any serious injuries.  Gadsden Police and Fire units and EMS crews responded to the scene.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation.
