Starting July 20th Masks Will Be Required at All Walmart and Sam’s Clubs

Get ready to meet your “Health Ambassador” – that’s the person who’ll be in charge of just who is, and isn’t allowed to enter your local Walmart store.

Wear a mask, you’re in – attempt to enter without one – and you’re not on the guest list.

In a just-released announcement the company said “To help bring consistency across stores and clubs we’ll require all shoppers to wear a face covering starting Monday, July 20th; this will give us time to inform customers and members of the changes, to post signage and also train associates on the new protocol,”

Currently, some 65% of Walmart’s more than 5,000 stores and Sam’s Clubs locations are in places where there is some form of government mandate on face coverings.

Walmart will post an employee known as the “Health Ambassador” at the front of the store to remind those without a mask they must cover their faces.  The ambassadors, identifiable by their black polo shirts, “will work with customers who show up at a store without a face covering to try and find a solution.”  The company added “We’re currently considering different solutions for customers as this requirement takes effect on July 20th,”  Sam’s Clubs members will be provided with a complimentary mask if they do not have one.  All stores will now have a single entrance to make mask enforcement easier.

Of course, with Alabama’s new Statewide, Mandatory Mask-Wearing Order going into effect Wednesday, July 15th – Walmart shoppers in Alabama will get an early start.
