At around 5:00 Tuesday afternoon, units with the McCord’s, Spring Creek and Ellisville Fire Departments along with Floyd EMS. were dispatched to a report of a camper fire with other structures also being in danger at a location on County Road 22 in the Alexis Community.
Upon arrival, McCord’s Fire Chief Rich Lindsey noticed that one camper – which was being used as a permanent residence – was already fully involved and that another camper which was in the process of being demolished – was 50% involved.
Units quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to a neighbor’s shed only a few feet away. Chief Lindsey stated had it not been for the quick response from all involved, there would have been additional property damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
