No One Injured After Witnesses Report Seeing Two Individuals Jump From The Leesburg Bridge

Alabama Marine Patrol Officers with the assistance of the Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Leesburg Police and Fire Departments, the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office all combed the area around the Leesburg Bridge near Decks and Docks on Monday afternoon after a witness called 911 and reported that they saw two juveniles wearing black life jackets jump from the bridge.

We received information by phone and via our Facebook page from a witness that stated he saw the individuals jump and then ride off on jet-skis. He said that the individuals seemed to be fine.

The operation did force Alabama Power to shut down the one turbine running at the powerhouse until Marine Police cleared the scene.

We’ve had several of our listeners’ report to us that they have witnessed similar activity in Cedar Bluff and near the Yellow Creek area in Leesburg. This is the second time someone has reported seeing someone jump from the Leesburg Bridge.
