BREAKING NEWS| Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie Announces He Will Not Seek A Fourth Term

Longtime Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie announced on Thursday that he will NOT be seeking another term as Mayor in the upcoming election.

Mayor Wilkie met with city leaders on Thursday morning and informed them that he had made the decision to dedicate more time to his family and two businesses.

Wilkie has served as Mayor for 12 years prior to serving one term (4 years ) as a city councilman. Wilkie’s current term ends on November.

Wilkie is leaving the city in good standings. Currently, the city is in the process of completing a 1.3 million dollar renovation of the old Armory Building into a Community Center which will feature a state of the art banquet hall. The city is also finalizing plans for a new aquatic center, all new tennis courts, new pickle ball and basketball courts, new concession stands at the BPA Baseball Fields and renovations of the city park.

Municipal elections will take place Tuesday, August 25 – those who wish to qualify to run for office can submit statements of candidacy beginning Tuesday, July 7. No statements will be accepted later than Tuesday July, 21 at 5:00 p.m.
