Man Crashes Into An Oxford Business And Shoots Manager In The Leg

Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade said the incident occurred at approximately 6:49 a.m. Sunday, Robert Sean Guiford of Panama City took the 185 Exit on I20 in Oxford. As Guiford was traveling South on Hwy 21, his Ford F-150 left the roadway striking the Liquor King causing extensive damage.

The manager of the Econolodge and a female driver witnessed the incident and went to assist Guiford in the F150. At that point, Guiford began shooting a firearm inside his vehicle. Guiford then exited the vehicle shooting the manager in the leg for no known reason.

Guiford then ran towards Chick-Fil-A attempting to cross Highway 21. Guiford discharged his weapon until it was empty throwing it in the roadway. A deputy was in the area and apprehended Guiford laying in the median of the highway.

The gunshot victim was transported to North East Alabama Regional Medical Center with a wound to his leg.  The female was uninjured.

Guiford self admitted to being high on methamphetamines. Which was the direct result of his assault against random strangers checking on him after his traffic accident.

Guiford is a 36-year-old white male from Panama City, Florida.

The investigation continues and the charges and bond amount will be set Monday.
