Man Charged with Harassment After Allegedly Threatening Rainsville Police Officer During Traffic Stop

A man was arrested on a harassment charge – following an incident in which he reportedly threatened a Rainsville Police Officer.

Shortly before 9:00pm Officer Josh Wilson made a routine traffic stop during which 44 year old Jerry Jason McKee was issued a citation for speeding.  McKee, according to police reports, verbally threatened Wilson after being issued a ticket.  

Wilson was wearing a body camera at the time, and upon review of that footage – Rainsville Police Chief Kevin Smith forwarded the footage, and a report, to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.  

The following day, the Sheriff’s Office served McKee with a a warrant for Harassment.  McKee was booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center and has since bonded out.
