Facebook Post Creates Outrage; Man Shown Atop Rome City Police Motorcycle is NOT an Employee of Department

An individual pictured on a Rome City Police motorcycle posted a statement on Facebook that caused a great deal of controversy over the weekend.  The subject – identified only as “Bobby Bynum” – posted the picture, and then, in the comment section, made the statement “Long live KKK”.

Rome City Police were immediately made aware of the post and they stated that Bynum did work in law enforcement in Atlanta in the past, but he has never worked for the Rome City Police Department.  Rome Police issued the following statement:

“We have been contacted by multiple individuals expressing concern over the attached image. We are extremely upset about Mr. Bynum’s comment and he DEFINITELY does not represent Rome PDs thoughts or values!!  Bynum was never a police officer for the Rome PD.  He came to Rome many years ago and while he in Rome took a picture on one of our officer’s motorcycles.  We are in the process of contacting Bynum and having him remove any representation of the Rome PD he has publicly posted.   We are very glad the community brought this to our attention!”

No additional information regarding the case is being released at this time.
