Centre Man Arrested And Charged For Attempting To Elude Cedar Bluff Police

A Centre man is behind bars after attempting to elude officers late Monday afternoon.

Cedar Bluff K-9 Officer Chris Vaughn attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle on Highway 68 East at Broad Street when the driver of the bike refused to stop and sped away. The bike turned onto County Road 69 with speeds reaching 70 miles per hours.

The pursuit finally came to an end after the bike crashed in the parking lot of the Pine Grove Baptist Church where Officer Vaughn arrested the driver.

41 year old Toby Lee Hulsey was taken into custody and charged with Attempting to Elude and Failure to Appear for Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is being held without bond.

Officer Vaughn said that he wanted to thank Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office for assisting.
