Gadsden Man Arrested And Charged With Theft Of Property Near The Cherokee/Etowah County Line

A Gadsden man was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on Theft and Burglary charges for his involvement in the theft of $250,000 worth of property that was recovered from a location near the Cherokee/Etowah County line back in April.

Chief Deputy Josh Summerford said that Cherokee County Investigator Jeremy Stepps and Etowah County Investigator Will Farley used a drone to find the property.

A suspect, who resided at a Norton Lane residence in Etowah County was questioned – the homeowner, Thomas Bragg denied knowing the suspect.

Investigators believed property taken in a Cherokee County burglary was on the Norton Lane property.

As they were surveying property with the drone, they located a red Jeep Wrangler that was taken in the burglary along with two side-by-side UTV’s and two utility trailers.

A search warrant was obtained and deputies with both agencies were able to seize an estimated $250,000 in suspected stolen property.

47 year old Thomas Jason Bragg bonded out of the Etowah County Detention Center on Saturday on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance, five counts of Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree, three counts of Receiving Stolen Property 4th Degree and Violent Felon in Possession of a Pistol.

Upon being released from Etowah County, he was then transferred to the Cherokee County Detention where was booked in on charges of Theft of Property 1st Degree, Theft of Property 3rd Degree and Burglary 3rd Degree. He is being held without bond.

Warrants were also warrants gathered on Cathy Ann Bragg for two counts of receiving stolen property 1st degree, at this time she has not been arrested.
