Over the next couple of weeks, the Centre Fire Department will be flowing hydrants throughout the fire district.
These tests will allow the department to find hydrants that may have problems, and flow some sediments out of the lines. If you have a hydrant in your yard, or nearby, consider “adopting” the hydrant and keeping a three foot square area around it clear.
This makes them easier for the fire department to locate and access in an emergency. By law, the area should be free and clear of obstructions, and they will be cutting trees and such away from the hydrants when they open them.
