Seamless Transition as New Procedures go into Effect Monday Morning at Cherokee County Administration Building

Today (Monday, May 4th) marked the first day for a number of changes in procedure at the Cherokee County Administration Building in Centre.

Probate Judge Tim Burgess:

Canopies have been placed out front to keep those waiting in line out of the weather, which fortunately was not an issue today, and markings noting the “six-foot distancing rule” have been laid down, both inside and out.  So-called “Windshield Barriers” have been installed at each counter in the facility, as well.

We arrived at the Administration Building shortly before 9:00am, and everyone seemed to be in good spirits; we spoke to a couple of those waiting in line to get their reaction:

During the entire time that we were there, which was around an hour – the employees kept up a steady pace – and the line constantly moved forward.  Extra security was also in place to provide assistance and make sure everything moved smoothly.

We also spoke with Judge Burgess prior to leaving, and he shared this with us:

The Judge did ask that those coming to take care of business at the Administration Building, please, if at all possible, leave all children and other family members at home, for their own safety as we continue to combat the COVID-19 epidemic.

After all, these precautions have been put in place to help ensure the safety of the public, as certain necessary business is conducted.
