UPDATE / The man who was injured after being run over by a tractor Monday afternoon in Sand Rock, is reportedly in stable condition and doing well, according to family members. 

That incident occurred in a field off County Road 49 near the Cherokee/DeKalb County line, when 74 year old Dale Morton reportedly fell off of the tractor, and the tractor ran over him continuing out of control across the open field.  He was reportedly conscious, alert and able to carry on a conversation with the emergency personnel as they arrived on the scene.   

According to the family he was placed in ICU for a time suffering several broken ribs on one side and one on the other and also had one partially collapsed lung as a result of the mishap

Those responding included Floyd EMS, Sand Rock firefighters and various Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office personnel.

The accident took place around 4:00 that afternoon.
