Centre City Council Meeting For April 28th

The Centre City Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday via Facebook Live.

The Council approved two step raises with those being for Wayne Early, Streets and Sanitation and Officer Billy Flynt and Police Chief Kirk Blankenship. Also approved was Architect fess for the Armory Project.

Streets Department Supervisor Bobby Paul will be presented with a list of streets which need to be striped, that list will be reviewed a given back to the city council for approval.

A letter of agreement with Alabama Power was also approved in regards to the the city obtaining the property at the state boat docks on Alabama Highway 9.

After some discussion, it was recommended by Parks & Rec. Director Stacy Jones that the city refund the player fees and BPA Sponsorship’s in the amount of $27, 950. 

The council is also going to be gathering engineering fees for demolition of and reconstruction of the concession stand at the BPA Fields, the recommendation was for LADD Engineering.  

A quote from Cherokee Glass in the amount of $2,985 was accepted to install glass enclosures inside City Hall. 

To show their support for graduating seniors, the city council has agreed to purchase banners in all five school colors to be hung on light poles throughout the downtown area to honor senior graduates across Cherokee County. The total cost will be $2,500. The banners will be interchangeable on a yearly basis.   

At the recommendation of Chief Kirk Blankenship, the council approved the promotion of Officer Billy Flynt to the position of Corporal.
