The National Weather Service Office in Birmingham is advising north central Alabama residents to pay close attention to developing weather Wednesday. According to the report, there is a marginal risk of strong thunderstorms producing straight line winds to 60 mph and heavy rainfall. The National Weather service says the area could be affected from 6A for the west Alabama counties and as late as 6P for east Alabama Counties.
A weather system with strong straight line winds ripped through portions of northeast Alabama on Thursday leaving a trail of downed trees, power lines, and damages to structures. Some Piedmont area residents were left without power for more than a day.
Citizens are encouraged to be prepared by making sure you have a least two ways to receive weather updates. Be sure you have at least one way to receive those updates if the power service is disrupted.
